Variations of Poker

One of the oldest card games of all time is poker. Two of the most popular poker games are Omaha and Texas Hold’em, but over time the game has been undergoing a transformation, and new games have been developed. There is no doubt that poker is a great deal of fun to play and very thrilling. It is very engaging when it comes to both professional tournaments and friendly amateur games.

Difference between Omaha and Texas Hold’em

These two games are basically the same but their origins are different – Omaha originates from Europe while Texas Hold’em originates from the United States. It is believed that the basic game originated in Europe before it was taken to America where a few rules were changed a little. In Omaha, the players are dealt four hole cards – which means they start the game with four cards – which they play with in addition to the others in the deck. By way of difference, players are dealt only two cards to play with in Texas Hold’em.

Pineapple Poker

The game is also known as crazy poker and is similar to Omaha and Texas Hold’em. There are only a few differences that need to be noted for pineapple poker. To begin with, players in this game are served three hole cards to start with in conjunction with those in the deck. Next a player is required to throw away one card at the end of a hand. This is not a feature in the other two games.

The game also needs a maximum of ten players and a minimum of two for the game to proceed. The game also involves the elimination of a player at the end of every pot depending on what they have left in their hand, progressing until the last man standing emerges as the winner.
